Gaspar Cobiellas is originally from Cuba. While in his native country Gaspar attended Medical School for four years. He has been working at MAM for over 3 years in different capacities including Emergency Services, Harvey Relief (NRC), and currently in Employment Services. When he first came to MAM, he was new in the country, looking for an employment opportunity. He registered in employment services and graduated from the ECP program. A few months later, he received a call from employment services they said that there was an opening at MAM, he was encouraged to apply. After going through the hiring process, he was selected. The rest is history, here he is almost 4 years later, still working and proud to be part of a great organization.

Daniel Leal is the Computer Literacy Specialist at MAM. He is originally from Corpus Christi Texas. He has a background in accounting. The majority of this experience has been in the payroll processing field. Daniel joined the Employment Services team in March of 2011. I like helping people. One of the best feelings we (computer literacy volunteers and myself) get in the computer lab is when someone gets a job or learns something new on the computer.
Bernie Vazquez is the Financial Education Coordinator at MAM, he teaches client-driven classes and individual sessions in which clients and their families work to reach their goals related to improving their financial well-being.
Born and raised in Tampico, Mexico he has a Business Administration degree from Universidad Valle del Bravo, a Community Health Worker Trainer Certificate and is a Certified Translator with the American Translators Association. He worked for 10 years as Education and Outreach Manager with local non-profits and the last 8 years as an Interpreter/Educator with Harris Health Systems.
Matthew Cox is MAM’s Director of Family Education Programs, overseeing employment services, English as a second language, immigration/citizenship, legal, family counseling, and other helping programs. Raised in the Clear Lake area he recently returned to Houston after living in New England for the past 13 years. He has more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit management and leadership. His areas of expertise include organizational and leadership development, performance coaching and management, development/fundraising, quality system and change management.
Paola Castro is MAM’s Financial Education Coordinator. She is a Certified Financial Coach, and she has been leading our program since August 2015. She has more than 12 years of experience in counseling, coaching, training, and leadership development. She came to USA three years ago with experience in Human Resources Management for a large corporation and social services organizations. Paola is a native of Bogotá, Colombia.
Bethlehem Worku Zewede is MAM’s Manager of Employment Services, overseeing day-to-day operations of the program. She is a naturalized US citizen. Originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She is a Certified Financial Coach, Credit Counselor and active Property/Casualt Insurance Agent. She has been working in nonprofit and Financial Opportunity Management for the past nine years
Melissa Paz is MAM’s Financial Education Coordinator. She recently started working in the Education program, she joined MAM four years ago and has been working as a Family Assistance Associate, she has a lot of experience with resources in the community, with clients coming for help at MAM, and providing services to them. Melissa moved to the United States six years ago and she is originally from Costa Rica.
Yolanda Bing is Employment Services Coordinator at Memorial Assistance Ministries, a non-profit organization that provides emergency financial assistance and other services to families and individuals in Spring Branch and other contiguous neighborhoods in Houston. In this capacity, Yolanda works with MAM’s clients to assist them in overcoming their obstacles to finding and maintaining employment. Previously, Yolanda managed an employment services program at another Houston area nonprofit organization, and also worked as a recruiter of light industrial and office employees in Illinois. Yolanda is originally from Mexico.
