    ROLE OVERVIEW:
    The Assistant Campus Plant Manager is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of school facility and custodial operations.   This will ensure that the district’s cleaning and maintenance standards are followed, safety and compliance is appropriately done and that there is proper communication between the school and campus operations staff.
    This position furthers the mission of KIPP by providing a clean and safe learning environment for students and faculty. 
    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
    The Assistant Campus Plant Manager will:

    1. Manage building systems at his/her assigned campus
      1. Know and manage, all building systems, including burglar and fire alarms, elevators, and HVAC, irrigation systems and controls.
      2. Be responsible for the campus buildings and grounds, including basic carpentry repairs, touch-up paint, pest control, lawn care, plumbing and basic electric.
      3. Problem solves the day to day facilities issues to ensure that the school leaders can better focus on students and their staff.
      4. Communicate problems, assessments, and repairs to the Campus Business Manager and Plant Manager in a timely manner.

      1. Ensure all safety protocols and systems are working
    3. Ensure that the campus remains in compliance at all times
      1. Assist the Campus Plant Manager with facility compliance including, fire marshal items, sprinkler tests, and elevator inspections
      2. Assist with preventative maintenance programs   
      3. Perform daily inspections and do whatever it takes to resolve potential problems before they escalate
    4. Assist Plant Manager with all campus reservations.
      1. Set up areas for special events or other school use.
      2. Ensure scoreboard audio system, lights, and A/C are scheduled and working.
    5. Bring a positive “can-do,” reassuring attitude every day.
      1.  Build trust with School Leaders, Office Manager, Faculty and Teammates.
      2. Communicate with the Plant Manager to make sure proper maintenance and appearance of the grounds are acceptable.

     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
     
    Education and Knowledge:

    • High school diploma; plus 1-3 years of  trade skills/janitorial experience, preferably in a school setting

     
    Skills:

    • Ability to troubleshoot electric, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC problems
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and an energetic attitude
    • Driven by determination and have pride in the appearance of the campus.
    • Extreme flexibility with work schedule.
    • Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative
    • Good manual dexterity
    • Detail-oriented and self-directed
    • Ability to manage several tasks at once
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines is key
    • Ability to identify problems and proactively find solutions
    • Commitment to tasks at hand
    • Strong ethics and a determination to make the campus operate safely, efficiently, and effectively
    • Must be customer focused, with a good demeanor

    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
    • Proven written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
    • Proficiency using computers, printers, copy machines, and fax machines and maintenance equipment.
    • English fluency is required; Spanish is a plus
