James W. Whalen has served an executive officer of Targa Resources Corp. since October 2005 and a director of Targa Resources Corp. since May 2004. He also has been a director of Targa Resources Partners LP since February 2007. Prior to joining Targa, Mr. Whalen served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Parker Drilling Company from October 2002 through October 2005. Prior to his position at Parker Drilling Company, Mr. Whalen held positions at Diversified Diagnostic Products, Inc., Coral Energy, and Tejas Gas Corp. and Coastal Corporation. Mr. Whalen has also served as a director of two public companies, Equitable Resources, Inc. and Parker Drilling Company. Mr. Whalen is a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Community and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He has been married to his wife Ginny for 52 years. They have three children and seven grandchildren
